   Admission Requirements
   Trimesters Offering the Programme


 


Admission Requirements:

To qualify for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) candidates must hold the following qualifications:

  1. Applicants are required to have an Honours Degree with a CGPA of at least 2.750 or its equivalent; or,
     
  2. Applicants have obtained a professional qualification certificate which is recognized as being equivalent with (i) above; or,
     
  3. Applicants with a CGPA below 2.750 will be considered should they have passed the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) with a minimum score of 550 or with working experience of at least five years at the management level of an organisation;
     
  4. Applicants with CGPA below 2.500 will be considered should they have passed the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) with a minimum score of 550 or with working experience of at least ten years at the middle management level of a public company or a government department; or
     
  5. Applicants have obtained whatever other qualification that is approved by the UPM senate.
     
  6. Applicants must have proficiency in the language according to the requirement of the University.
  Corporate Governance
  Applicants are required to have an Honours Degree in Law, Business Studies, Accounting or Finance.
   
Language Proficiency Requirements:

    (English Language)
 
  1. A Malaysian candidate must have obtained at least a credit in English at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia level or have passed English courses conducted at the Diploma or Bachelor's level.
     
  2. All international candidates from countries where English is not a medium of instruction must have obtained a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or 6 for IELTS.
     
  3. A candidate without the requisite minimum score for TOEFL or IELTS may be granted a provisional admission.
     
  4. An applicant who has given a provisional offer of admission to a Master's or PhD programme will be given full admission ONLY after the applicant submits proof of achieving the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score.
     
  5. An applicant without the requisite minimum score of TOEFL or IELTS will be required to pass an English Placement Test conducted by UPM. The provisional offer will be withdrawn if the applicant fails the Test and therefore will not be accepted for the Master's or PhD programme.
    (Malay Language)
 
  1. All international students (except students from Indonesia and Brunei) must obtain a grade 'M' for the Malay Language course (BBM 1401 or its equivalent) to be eligible for conferral of a degree.

    M - Memuaskan/Satisfactory
* Note: Appropriate GMAT score is an advantage.

Trimesters Offering The Programme:

GSM has implemented the trimester system. Every academic year is divided into First, Second and Third trimester. Each trimester consists of 14 weeks of studies and 1 week of examination.


Full Time Status - First Trimester Only
 

  • Lecture for morning classes will be conducted either from 9.00 am until
    12.00 noon every Monday to Friday or 2.30 pm until 5.30 pm on Saturday.
     
  • Average period of study: 4 trimesters (1 1/2 years).
Part Time Status - First, Second and Third Trimester
 
  • Lecture for evening classes will be conducted from 6.30 pm until 9.30 pm every Monday to Friday or 2.30 pm until 5.30 pm on Saturday.
     
  • Average period of study: 6 trimesters (2 years).
